Avengers Movie: Post Thor Trailer and Plot
When the Thor movie came out we saw what we thought was the Infinity Gauntlet in Asgard but with the ending of the Captain America movie we now know that the Cosmic Cube was handled by the Red Scull towards the end of the movie and was recovered by Howard Stark the father of Tony Stark who is Iron Man. Well in the Avengers Secret trailer at the end of the Thor Movie the Cube is seen briefly in the film in a post-credits scene. Nick Fury shows the box to Erik Selvig who, under the control of Loki, asks what it is, to which Fury replies “Power.”
Few items in the universe could ever compare to the sheer power of a Cosmic Cube. The power within the Cube allows whoever wields it to literally reshape reality around him. Virtually anything is possible. The key to unlocking it’s power is part of Loki’s scheme to be developed in the Avengers movie. According to the Latino Review, the big bad guy the Avengers will be facing in the Joss Whedon directed film of the same name will be, who has been rumored, Loki. According to sources, Loki uses this to summon the alien race known as the Skrulls to attack earth. The Skrulls are an advanced shape-shifting warrior alien race. He wants his brother destroyed, as well as Midgard (Earth); note: but not Asgard which intends to rule.
Kevin Feige Marvel Studios President and producer on The Avengers said the following: “In my opinion, The Skrulls are really the only viable threat that would require so many super heroes to fight as a team. Sure, you could have The Hulk as a villain in the beginning, but then they have to come together for an even bigger threat. Something hinted about in Iron Man 2, Thor and Cap by Nick Fury’s presence.”
If this is true I can see the Avengers fighting among themselves as they come together and bring Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) as the Hulk together to be a team. The first test of the team my be to subdue the Hulk and calm him down so Bruce banner can be reasoned with. Which agrees with a scene showing Bruce Banner in the Avengers head quarters. Then it’s Avengers Assemble to the common threat of the Skrulls and eventually Loki and the Cosmic Cube.
Well, in using the the Cube something goes wrong and Loki no longer has control over the Skrulls. Perhaps, the Cosmic Cube loses its power, and the Skrulls now decide to invade and take over everything. Of course, the Avengers assemble – with the Hulk – to take down this threat. It is rumored that the last hour is nothing but pure action pack mayhem.
The Avengers is set to assemble in theaters May 4th 2012 starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson. So in less than a year we will know what’s up with the Avengers. This can not be missed. Mark your calender. Stay tuned comic faithful for more.

SPOILER WARNING: Plot points from this Wednesday’s “Ultimate Fallout” #4. News release from Marvel in CBR. Readers following Marvel Comics many teaser images for this week’s “Ultimate Fallout” #4 may have noticed that the daily countdown aspect promising a revelation as to the identity of the new Ultimate Spider-Man didn’t count down to the book’s on sale date of Wednesday. It counted to today.
In accordance with their recent string of high profile mass media announcements, Marvel let early news of the reveal slip to USA Today who published a story revealing that the new Spider-Man is a young half-black/half-Hispanic teenager – a first for the hero’s franchise. The article identified the new Spider-Man to be one Miles Morales. “In his first appearance, he simply breaks up a fight,” the paper reports. “But readers will learn the true origin of Morales and how he became the new Spider-Man when Ultimate Spider-Man relaunches in September with a new No. 1 issue.” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso told USA Today, “What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who’s reflective of our culture and diversity. We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker.”
“The theme is the same: With great power comes great responsibility,” added writer Brian Michael Bendis. “He’s going to learn that. Then he has to figure out what that means.”
Official Press Release
Pop culture history will be made tomorrow as Ultimate Comics Fallout #4 hits shelves and introduces readers to the all-new Ultimate Comics Spider-Man! That’s right, for the first time ever, someone other than Peter Parker will be Spider-Man! But, after the death of Peter Parker, who will rise up to defend the Ultimate Universe?Meet Miles Morales, a seemingly normal teenager from New York who will soon discover that with great power comes great responsibility…and even greater danger! But just what are the secrets behind Miles’ shocking abilities? What’s his connection to the original Spider-Man? And just why does he wear that costume? Courtesy of superstars Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Ultimate Comics Fallout #4 begins the story that’ll have everyone talking for years to come!
“When the opportunity arose to create a new Spider-Man, we knew it had to be a character that represents the diversity—in background and experience—of the twenty-first century,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor in Chief. “Miles is a character who not only follows in the tradition of relatable characters like Peter Parker, but also shows why he’s a new, unique kind of Spider-Man—and worthy of that name.”
With its inception in 2000, the Ultimate Comics Universe reimagined the world’s most popular super heroes for a new generation and has been critically lauded for its bold, resonant stories. In particular, Ultimate Spider-Man #1 is widely considered one of the most important comics of the century, setting records for trade paperback sales and introducing one of the most popular versions of Spider-Man ever. With the death of Peter Parker in June 2011, all eyes were once again on the Ultimate Comics Universe, as mainstream media and fans alike speculated just who Marvel would put under the mask of this beloved hero. Now, the chart-topping team of Bendis and Pichelli begin the next major chapter of the Ultimate Comics Universe with September’s historic Ultimate Comics spider-Man #1, giving readers a chance to learn the origin of the most important new character of the century.
“The chance for the world to join a new Spider-Man as he discovers what that means in this modern world is one of the most challenging and crazy fun opportunities I’ve had as a writer,” explained Bendis. “The Ultimate Comics Universe according to Miles is completely unique. I can’t wait to write every issue and I can’t wait for people to start reading them.”
Pichelli added, “I promise, you will fall in love with Miles– I already did. ‘Nuff Said.”
Well it is ‘Nuff said right now but we will be commenting later on the turn of events with the new Ultimate Universe and Spider-Man. We will see if a rose by any other name is still a rose and if Spider-Man that is not Peter Parker is still Spider-Man. Stay tuned comic faithful for more.

New Incredible Hulk #1 News From SDCC
At their “Fear Itself” panel Sunday afternoon at Comic-Con International: San Diego, Marvel revealed what’s next: a brand new Incredible Hulk #1 in October, from the high-profile creative team of writer/Marvel Architect Jason Aaron (Wolverine, Scalped) and artist/Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri (Uncanny X-Men, The Darkness).
I just read an exclusive interview by Albert Ching, Newsarama Staff Writer with Jason Aaron who is the new writer for Incredible Hulk with Greg Pak leaving the title in August with #635 as we have featured previously here. The Hulk has had many wars and battles since his creation but now he is battling himself. The classic “Hulk vs” story has come to be Hulk vs Bruce Banner. Yes they are separate and Jason Aaron will build on that theme at the end of the Fear Itself story line.
Jason talks about the influence of writers of the Hulk including John Byrne, Peter David, and of course Greg Pak. ” You can’t really talk about the Hulk without talking about Peter David’s run. I read all that stuff off the rack as it was coming out. I think I first started when [Todd] McFarlane, and then Erik Larsen, were drawing it. Even before that, I loved the short John Byrne run, which I think was the first time we had ever seen Hulk and Banner split apart into two different entities. And then the
Bruce Jones run really hooked me on Hulk again. That was a book that really made the Hulk a monster again, it really kind of changed the tone of the book. It wasn’t a superhero book, which I liked. Then you’ve got to give Greg Pak big credit. He’s taken the Hulk to all-new heights over the course of his long run, and done some amazing, character-defining stories.”
Jason wants to develop the the clash between the Bruce Banner vs Hulk persona. “Hulk has been a lot of different things At the end of the day, it always comes back to that dynamic between Banner and this other persona that’s inside him, the Hulk. That’s what my book will focus on. I’ll be trying to kind of turn the tables a little bit and look at that from a different perspective.”
The Hulk has been a monster a hero and the most miss understood Marvel character. I will be checking out this new look at The Incredible Hulk starting in October. You knew they would not let the title end. Stay tuned comic faithful for more.

Amazing Spider-Man Movie Pictures Up Date
Spidey’s back! Well, almost. The Amazing Spider-Man doesn’t hit theaters for another year, but in anticipation of next week’s Comic-Con (July 21-24 in San Diego) we’ve got first looks at the new pictures from comicbookresourses.com we have our best looks to date at Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man, director Marc Webb’s franchise reboot.
Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” look at the comic book hero. He’s a hero the 27-year-old Garfield knows well. Growing up, “I related to Peter Parker [Spidey’s alter ego] so much because I felt like someone else inside,” he says. “I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid.”
Adds Webb: “Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.” The Amazing Spider-Man, which opens on July 3, 2012, also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Campbell Scott, C. Thomas Howell, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse.
A year away or not this looks like it is worth checking out. Spider mania is back and it’s time for some web-slinging and saving the day from the bad guys. Stay tuned comic faithful for more.

‘Fear Itself’ #5 Marvel says is a brawl
A Fear Itself #5 teaser has been released by Marvel Comics. Following on the heals of the release of Fear Itself #4, the images promise an all-out brawl in next month’s issue. The teaser shows close-ups of Thor, the Hulk and the Thing – the latter two having fallen under the power of the Serpent and transformed into his hammer-wielding ‘Worthy’. And while the brawl rages, the Serpent’s forces deal Captain America a blow not even he can withstand. A second teaser hints at the ongoing events in Fear Itself: The Deep #2, Uncanny X-Men #540 and Invincible Iron Man #506.

“Powers” Television Series Casts Male and Female Leads
For those of you that did not know “Powers” is an American creator-owned police procedural comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis (writer) and Michael Avon Oeming (artist). The series’ first volume was published by Image Comics (2000 to 2004). Subsequent volumes (beginning in 2004 along with David Mack’s Kabuki) have been published by Marvel Comics as a part of the Icon imprint. Powers is set in a world where superpowers are relatively common but not mundane. It follows the lives of two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, police officers in a Homicide department devoted to cases that involve “powers” (people with superpowers). Walker himself used to be a costumed superhero named Diamond, but became a police officer after he lost his abilities. Though stripped of his powers, he still retains his contacts within the superhero community, even becoming engaged to an ex-colleague, who is later killed.
Brian Michael Bendis’ series Powers is making the move to the small screen on the FX network, and the leads for the series have been officially cast. Film star Jason Patric, who appeared in last year’s not so well-liked comic book movie The Losers, will take on the role of Detective Christian Walker. Walker’s partner, Detective Deena Pilgrim, will be played by British actress Lucy Punch. The Powers series focuses on Walker and Pilgrim as they investigate homicide cases in a world where superheroes are common and Walker himself is a former superhero. Fans of the comic book series, which originally ran with Image Comics and then moved to Marvel’s Icon imprint, will be pleased to know that both Bendis and series artist Michael Oeming are part of the team behind the television adaptation. Also attached to the project is Charles Eglee, who also worked on Dark Angel and the critically acclaimed television adaptation of The Walking Dead.
11 years later, “Powers” is still going strong. Brian Michael Bendis: “So now the pilot has been green lit and I feel like Morgan Freeman at the end of ‘The Shawshank Redemption.’ I finally got out of jail and now I don’t know what to do,” Bendis joked. “The guys at Sony and FX and our showrunner are all amazing. One of the reasons I really wanted this show to happen was that I was really enjoying the experience of working with them. We really like each other and the conversations at FX are so smart. They make a lot of smart programs. I kept thinking, ‘I would love to continue these conversations while we make a real show.’ So that’s where we are. We’re talking to actors and budgets are being put together. Locations are being determined and we’ll be off and running very shortly.”
“At this point, details are slim save for the fact that the pilot is an adaptation of the comic’s initial story arc, “Who Killed Retro Girl?” “All the characters are there. This is the story of Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim solving cases and solving some of the big cases from the book. That’s absolutely what this series is about,” Bendis stated. “Like comics, television is episodic in nature. So there’s a lot in the comics that applies directly to television and you will see a lot of elements of the book in there,” Bendis continued. “What’s cool for everyone at Sony and FX is that these television guys have 11 years worth of graphic novels to draw from. People call me with questions about Walker and Deena, and I have an answer. I studied these characters from every which way. This won’t be like a normal pilot where you write the initial script and hope you figure out the rest. We could just follow the books and we’d be okay for three years. To me, though, they’re a jumping off point.”
If this series is done right with all the cop shows on TV it could be a really big hit. Sometimes the transition from comics to the big or small screen looses in the conversion. The readers are responsible for the adaptation to FX TV according to Bendis: “I’m so grateful to the fans of Powers, both the single issue collectors and the trades collectors. Since you’ve stuck with us through all these years, you absolutely created a support system in which we could get this show off the ground.” With that it should air sometime in 2012 we will be there for the pilot. Stay tuned comic faithful for more.

Ultimate Spider-Man Without Peter Parker #160
PowersMajor Spoilers: Ultimate Spider-Man #160 has made it clear the character that started the Ultimate Universe the Peter Parker Spider-man is dead. #160 of Ultimate Spider-Man is bringing an end to the 10 year run of the character. This will end the sold out “Death of Spider-Man” story arc, and it will set up an all new Spider-Man book. In a recent press release, Marvel Senior Editor, Mark Paniccia, had this to say:
10 years ago, Brian Bendis and Mark Millar changed the way people saw super heroes with the birth of the Ultimate Universe. With ‘Death of Spider-Man’ the two have done it again, creating a story just as big, and something that would really resonate with fans… But Peter’s death doesn’t signal the end of their larger plan—it’s the start of one of the most ambitious stories you’ve ever read in comics.
Marvel Editor-in Chief, Alex Alonso, explained that this may be the end of Peter Parker, and it will raise the stakes in the Ultimate Universe:
We’ve never seen a world without Spider-Man, a world without Peter Parker, so his death is a significant event for the Ultimate Comics Universe and we’re going to see how quickly it changes everything. Readers are in for something very new…and surprising because everything that happens in Ultimate Spider-Man #160 and Ultimate Comics Fallout sets the stage for even bigger stories.
Marvel will be releasing, in July, Ultimate Comics Fallout, which will take a look at what happens to the Ultimate Universe when Peter Parker isn’t around anymore. This will also debut the new Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe and Marvel states that we’ll all be very surprised with who is under the mask. Ultimate Spider-Man has become quite the iconic character with readers and a major part of the Ultimate Universe.
Marvel fame really began with Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962 with the introduction of Spider-Man. Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby brought us Peter Parker, bit by a radioactive spider and turned into a superhero who has grown to be the most popular character in comics of the last 50 years with the closest revival Superman. He has become a world wide name. Every body in modern culture knows of Spider-Man and Peter Parker. When Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley re introduced this well known hero creating the Ultimate Universe of Marvel they followed the same formula that Stan lee and others followed back in the sixties to bring the character into the 21st century. They were successful Ultimate Spider-Man out sold Amazing Spider-Man of Marvel’s original universe on many occasions. It was the catalyst for the introductions of all the new versions heroes and villains in the Ultimate Universe.
Now Peter is dead and comic writers have been given the right to make major changes in the junior Marvel universe and create something quite different than Marvel readers have been used to in the past. Well Ultimate Comics Fallout in July will spell out those changes and bring us a non Peter Parker Spider-Man. I read what Bendis said about the sweeping changes and he is uneasy about how this will be received but he believes it is necessary to bring new ideas and fresh new stories into the comic world of Marvel, read here.
Peter Parker made Spider-Man who he was, a teenager with all the adolescent problems in growing up but still managing to be one of the most interesting heroes of all time. He was a person we could relate to with the thoughts of a regular guy just trying to get by and save the day while doing it. He was not from another planet or dimension. He was one of us and very popular in all age groups. I really don’t know how Marvel readers will accept this new hero in Spider-Man costume. Brian Michael Bendis seems to be the driving force behind this change in direction. He has done some very good stuff in the past so I have mixed feeling about this. So as we say good by to Peter Parker it is going to be hard to call someone else Spider-Man. Please let me know your thoughts on this change and will you even check it out when it comes to you local comic shop? Stay tuned comic faithful for more.
